TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL

We would like to update our customers on the current recall of Takata airbags. Our aim is to get affected customers back on the road as soon as possible, if you own one of the models mentioned below please check the VIN for further recall information and if necessary make a booking at Osborne Park Subaru as soon as possible. 

Models Affected

Recall - Secondary Air Pump Relay on certain Subaru turbocharged vehicles

Certain Liberty GT, Impreza WRX/STI and Forester XT vehicles may contain a potentially faulty secondary air pump relay.

Liberty and Outback Recall - Front Passenger Airbag Inflator in MY2004 to 2009 models

Subaru Model Year (MY) 2004 to 2009 Liberty and Outback vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag PSPI inflator with propellant wafers may be affected.

Liberty and Outback Recall - Front Wiper Motor in MY 2010 to 2014 models

Certain Model Year (MY)2010-2014 Liberty and Outback vehicles, the front windscreen wiper motor bottom cover may, under a particular condition, melt.

Impreza Recall - Front Passenger Airbag Inflator in MY2004 to 2007 models

Subaru Model Year (MY) 2004 to 2007 Impreza vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag SPI inflator with propellant wafers may be affected.  

Tribeca Recall - Front Passenger Airbag Inflator in MY2007 to 2009 models

Subaru Model Year (MY) 2007 to 2009 Tribeca vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag PSPI-L inflator with propellant wafers may be affected.

BRZ Recall - Electric Power Steering in MY 2013 to 2015 models

Certain Model Year (MY) 2013-2015 BRZ vehicles may develop a poor electrical connection between the resolver harness and the Electronic Control Unit (“ECU”) of the Electric Power Steering (“EPS”). This poor electrical connection may cause the vehicle to lose power assistance for the steering.

It is important to note that even if power assistance for the steering is lost, the vehicle retains manual steering capability. However, the loss of power steering assistance will increase the steering effort.

Recall - Certain MY09 Liberty and Outback Vehicles Equipped with Takata Front Passenger Airbag – Extended VIN Range

Previously in SI0311, we introduced the Recall Campaign for certain Liberty and Outback vehicles for replacement of the passenger front airbag inflators. The VIN range has been extended. Certain Subaru Model Year (MY) 2009 Liberty and Outback vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag PSPI inflator with propellant wafers, may be affected.  

Recall - Certain MY09-13 Tribeca Vehicles Equipped with Takata Front Passenger Airbag – Extended VIN Range

Previously, in SI0312, we introduced the Recall Campaign for certain Tribeca vehicles for replacement of the passenger front airbag inflator. The VIN range has now been extended. Certain Subaru Model Year (MY) 2009-2013 Tribeca vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag PSPI-L inflator with propellant wafers, may be affected.

Recall - Certain MY10-14 Exiga Vehicles Equipped with Takata Front Passenger Airbag

Certain Subaru Model Year (MY) 2010–2014 Exiga vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag, may be affected.

Recall - Certain MY10-14 Liberty and Outback Vehicles Equipped with Takata Front Passenger Airbag

Certain Subaru Model Year (MY) 2010 to 2014 Liberty and Outback vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag, may be affected.

Recall - MY08-13 Impreza & WRX and MY09-12 Forester Front Passenger Airbag Inflator – Extended VIN range

Previously, in SI0312, we introduced the Recall Campaign for certain Tribeca vehicles for replacement of the passenger front airbag inflator. The VIN range has now been extended. Certain Subaru Model Year (MY) 2009-2013 Tribeca vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag PSPI-L inflator with propellant wafers, may be affected.

Recall - MY08-13 Impreza & WRX and MY09-12 Forester Front Passenger Airbag Inflator – Extended VIN range SI0331

Subaru (Aust) Pty Limited (“Subaru Australia”) has been advised by Subaru Corporation that certain Subaru Model Year (MY) 2008-2013 Impreza & WRX and certain MY 2009-2012 Forester vehicles equipped with a Takata front passenger airbag inflator with propellant wafers,  may be affected.

Recall - Reprograming Infotainment unit on MY17 Impreza

Certain model year (MY) 2017 Impreza vehicles may suffer from a ‘frozen screen’ in the infotainment unit with the reverse camera when the gear selector is in reverse, due to an anomaly in the infotainment unit’s software.

The VIN can be found in your Warranty & Service Booklet or on the Compliance Plate located on the driver’s strut tower under the bonnet or firewall near the brake booster (also under the bonnet).

 

Actions required

If your vehicle is listed above you need to book your vehicle in at Subaru Osborne Park have the recall carried out as soon as possible. Recall repairs are at no cost to customers.
